Directors
Gtech’s Board consists of four directors:
Dr Mervyn Jacobson - Chairman, Director and Chief
Executive Officer
Dr Jacobson is a legally qualified medical practitioner and
one of the founders of Genetype AG, which was acquired by
Genetic Technologies Limited in August 2000. In February
2000, the Colorado Governor appointed Dr Jacobson to the
Governors’ Advisory Council in Biotechnology. Adviser to
research groups in Switzerland, China and the United States
of America (USA), Dr Jacobson is currently Chairman of the
Board of Directors of XY Inc., a company based in Colorado
USA and Executive Chairman of Genetic Technologies Limited.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company
Directors. Dr Jacobson was appointed to the Board on 7 May
2000.
Thomas G Howitt – President, Secretary, Chief Financial
Officer and Director
Tom Howitt (B.Com), Chartered Accountant, member of the
Taxation Institute of Australia and Institute of Chartered
Secretaries was appointed in June 2004 as the Group’s first
full-time CFO. During a career spanning more than 20 years,
he has served as CFO (and Company Secretary) for a number of
public companies, on both the ASX and foreign exchanges. His
experience covers all facets of financial management and
control across a variety of industries, including resources
and technology – domestic and international, having most
recently played an important part in the successful
development, patenting and commercialisation of an
innovative suite of technologies. Tom has played key roles
in the successful raising of bank debt and equity capital
and the management of complex due diligence programs. He has
also worked as a Taxation Consultant for international
accountants Ernst & Young and in the investment banking
industry. Tom was appointed to the board on 30 June 2005. He
is also an International Associate of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a member of the
US Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance
Professionals.
Fred Bart – Director
Fred Bart has been involved in the textile industry for 25
years, as well as being a significant investor in the
resource and property sectors in Australia and overseas. Mr
Bart is also a Director of Genetic Technologies Limited, and
Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited. Bringing extensive
commercial experience from his involvement in the
manufacturing and textile industries, he was appointed to
the Board on 7 November 1996. Mr Bart is a member of the
Australian Institute of Company Directors and is Chairman of
the Audit Committee.
Elizabeth Sy – Director
Elizabeth Sy is a Canadian citizen with extensive experience
in retail shopping centres in the Philippines and Guam. She
is a director of SM Prime Holdings Inc (Philippines Stock
Exchange). Ms Sy was appointed to the Board on 30 June 2004
and is a member of the Audit Committee.
